So… yeah. It’s been a while.
If you’ve been checking in on the blog lately and thinking, “Did this guy fall off the map?” — fair question.
I didn’t disappear. I just traded my keyboard for a pile of plywood, a laser, and a shop that constantly looks like I lost a fight with a sawdust tornado.
What’s Been Going On
The short version?
I’ve been busy. Like, actually busy. Not the “I reorganized a drawer and needed a break” kind of busy — the kind where you look at the clock and somehow it’s 11:30 PM and you forgot supper.
I’ve been diving headfirst into making things.
Layered wood art, mandalas, custom pieces, flower pots, little projects that turned into bigger projects… and then somehow turned into even more projects.
It started as “I’ll make a few things and see what happens.”
That quickly turned into:
• Cutting
• Gluing
• Sanding
• Finishing
• Re-cutting because I messed something up
• And then doing it all over again
Honestly, it’s been one of those “this escalated quickly” situations.
But I’m not complaining — it’s been good.
Why the Blog Took a Back Seat
Something had to give, and for the last month… it was the blog.
Between figuring out designs, testing colours, dialing in the laser, and actually making stuff people want, I just didn’t have much left in the tank to sit down and write.
And I’d rather post nothing than throw up some half-baked article just to say I did.
You know how I write — if I’m doing it, I want it to sound like me, not like I copied and pasted something from the internet and hit “post.”
What I’ve Been Making
If you haven’t seen it yet, I’ve been working on:
• Layered wood mandalas
• Custom display pieces
• Flower pots (yep, those too)
• Personalized gifts
• And a bunch of other stuff that started as “just trying something”
Some of it turned out great right away.
Some of it… let’s just say it’s now “shop decor.”
But overall, it’s been coming together really well.
Come See It in Person
Now here’s the part I’m actually pretty excited about.
I’ll be set up at the Rainy River Community Market on May 9th.
The Rec Centre is putting it on, and I’ll have a table there with a bunch of the stuff I’ve been working on.
So if you’re local and want to:
• See everything in person
• Actually pick stuff up instead of just looking at pictures
• Or just stop by and say hi
Come check it out.
I’ll have a mix of pieces there — some ready-made, some customizable, and probably a few things I just finished the night before (because that seems to be how I operate now).
If You’re Not Local
If you’re not in the area, I’ve also got everything going up on my Etsy shop.
That’s where I’ll be listing:
• Finished pieces
• Custom options
• New designs as I make them
I’m still building it out, but it’s growing pretty quickly as I keep making new stuff.
So if you’ve been following along and wondering where all this is going — that’s where.
What’s Next
Now that things are a bit more dialed in, I’m planning to get back into posting regularly again.
Not every day. I’m not making that mistake.
But consistently.
Because I’ve actually got a lot to share now — not just the finished stuff, but the process, what works, what doesn’t, and probably a few “don’t do what I just did” moments.
So yeah — I haven’t quit.
I’ve just been busy building something.
And honestly, it feels pretty good.
If you’re around on May 9th, come by the market.
If not, check out the Etsy shop.
Either way, I’ll be back here writing again… just maybe with a bit more sawdust involved.
